mesh flinders - fiw october 2007
The first workshop will be held Friday, October 19th, with Mesh Flinders, creator of the internet and pop culture phenomenon, Lonelygirl15.

Mesh Flinders was born and raised in Petaluma, a small town in Northern California. After attending Occidental College, where he majored in film, he worked as an assistant to several directors before winning the 2004 Panavision new filmmaker award for his short film ‘Pond.’ In Spring of 2006 he met Miles Beckett and Greg Goodfried and together they created the Web show Lonelygirl15. Lonelygirl15 went on to become the most popular fictional show on the web. In spring of this year KateModern, a Lonelygirl spinoff, launched in the UK and quickly became a hit. In the past year Mesh has written and directed for Lonelygirl15 while pursuing opportunities to direct his own films.
About LonelyGirl15...
Mesh Flinders and Amanda Goodfried are the creator and Supervising Producer for the internet and pop culture phenomenon, Lonelygirl15. Lonelygirl15 is an interactive web-based video series centering around the life of a fictional teenage girl named Bree, whose YouTube username is the "lonelygirl15." The series is presented through short, regularly updated video blogs posted by the fictional characters. All of the scenes set in main character Bree’s bedroom were actually filmed in Mesh’s own bedroom. Many of the character’s experiences come from Mesh’s own personal experiences. They both explained how this case in particular for them was an integral part of what digital distribution can do. This global platform raised their product higher than they ever imagined leading to many different deals. The attention and popularity it has gotten has created such a buzz in the digital distribution market.
