CHICAGO – Chicago’s major art event (Artropolis /Art Chicago) takes place on April 25th through April 28th at the Merchandise Mart (just 4 blocks from Flashpoint’s main downtown campus). During Art Chicago this year, Flashpoint Academy students equipped with HD cameras and live streaming technology will be providing on-site updates and web-based video programming covering the main events, presentations and other activities, as well as several related shows and performances.
Along with the live coverage that will be continuously displayed on the web and on two Flashpoint digital video booths prominently located on the 12th floor main exhibition space, each evening, WFPA (Flashpoint’s in-house web video channel) will broadcast a wrap-up of the day’s major events along with interviews from artists, gallery owners, attendees, collectors, etc. The programming will be streamed over the Flashpoint website as well as The Merchandise Mart site and various gallery sites.
“We are all so excited that Flashpoint can be part of the largest art celebration in the City,” Howard A. Tullman, CEO/President of Flashpoint recently stated. Tullman, an avid art collector has amassed one of the largest contemporary realist art collections in the United States over the last 25 years. The walls of Flashpoint Academy are lined with more than 100 large-scale art works borrowed from Mr. Tullman’s collection of over 1000 figurative and realist paintings, drawings and sculptures. Many of these works have never previously been exhibited outside of museum walls or charitable tours of Mr. Tullman’s private exhibition spaces.
“History shows us that it is the non-conformists, the free-thinkers and the self-directed that are ultimately responsible for progress in society. Flashpoint gives students the chance to be innovative, creative and entrepreneurial,” said Chris Kennedy, President of the Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. “We're delighted to have Flashpoint involved with our Artropolis efforts.”
